5 Steps to Create an Inspiring Morning Journal

How to create an inspiring morning journal that will generate a positive mindset and momentum toward your goals

Your mornings set the tone for your entire day! When you have an intentional morning routine, you will feel more positive and productive moving into the rest of your day.

Journaling in the morning, has been the most impactful habit in my morning routine! With all the busyness in my life, this simple habit helps me start each day organized, intentional, and filled with gratitude and positivity!

I believe in the power of a morning journal SO much that I want to share it with EVERYONE!

I’m sharing all the details on the why and how to create a morning journal.

Follow these 5 SIMPLE STEPS to create an inspiring morning journal that will generate a positive mindset and momentum toward your goals

Daily Mantra

Title each journal with a short phrase or word to anchor your intentions for the day. A simple, motivating message to keep you in a positive state of mind.

Each morning before beginning your journal, check in with yourself and choose a phrase that will best inspire you for the day.

Gratitude

It can be SO tempting to start your morning journal with a brain dump of everything you “need” to do. I challenge you to instead start with gratitude.

When you start your journal with your to-do list, you’re initiating the day with a scarcity mindset- so much to do/so little time. When you begin with gratitude, you’re starting the day with abundance- I have so much already!

when you are grateful, fear disappears and abundance appears

Doing this practice regularly trains you to actively look for moments, people and experiences during the day that you can be grateful for. AND, the more consistently you stay in a state of gratitude, the easier it will become for you to believe that there is more awesomeness available to you!

Affirmations

Your thoughts and beliefs dictate your reality! So be very mindful with how you think or talk about yourself. Include at least 3 affirmations to feed your soul positivity and reframe negativity & limiting self-beliefs. Re-read these several times throughout the day.

Over time, this practice will turn you into a happier, more confident person, as you become more focused on your strengths and beauty instead of your weaknesses.

The more emotion there is connected to the affirmation, the more powerful it will be.

To Accomplish

A focused (not over detailed) list of things to accomplish today. With your goals and values in mind, create a focused plan of attack for your day.

Be super strategic when planning your list. If you’re like me, you can easily become overwhelmed with the amount of projects that you want to tackle.

Sometimes we take on more than we can handle because we think we have to do it all. Instead of trying to do it all in a stress state, do what you can in JOY!

Here’s a tip:

Before each week, write down what you want to accomplish. Then, delegate each task into different days. First, you’re fixed items- scheduled appointments or meetings. Then, you’re more flexible items that might not be day or time sensitive- workouts, grocery shopping, hanging pictures, etc.

Don’t forget to always, ALWAYS schedule time for you- a walk, reading, meditation, or even a nap! I always include rest in my “to-accomplish” section.

Reflection

Journaling is flexible and should be a source of reflection and growth reflect what will serve you best in that moment. In this section, respond to a different reflection prompt each day. This might be a prayer or mediation, 1 big goal for the day, a brain dump around things that bring me joy, etc.

The best part is– there is no right or wrong way to journal!

Play around with it and find a structure that works for you! I can confidently say that if you incorporate journaling into your morning routine, you’re life will improve!
